The TaxAct download software is designed to run on Windows. While we understand that programs such as Parallels and Boot Camp allow you to run the Windows operating system on a Mac, this is not a true Windows environment.

Programs like Boot Camp provide the basic drivers for audio, video, Bluetooth, AirPort, Ethernet, and keyboard and mouse. If you have peripherals that require their own drivers in Windows, you’ll have to download and install them yourself. Since you are using a third-party product to provide drivers, etc. to allow Windows to run on a Mac partition, this can cause issues with Internet Explorer functionality.

Parallels provides a virtual environment to run the Windows operating system. This could also cause issues with the TaxAct program. TaxAct 2009 and later use Internet Explorer controls to populate the Q&A portion of the download products as well as for the function of some buttons.

Since Macs are not supported computers, we cannot offer troubleshooting assistance to resolve any installation or operating issues. Our first suggestion would be to use an alternative machine (not a Mac) that runs a Windows OS.

You may also use the TaxAct Online program which securely stores your return on our servers. Compatibility is then a matter of your Internet browser on the Mac (system requirements).
