Form 1099-LTC – Long-Term Care and Accelerated Death Benefits
To enter long-term care premiums paid, follow the steps below.
Online
Dashboard
- From within your TaxAct return, click Deductions & Credits.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- Click the Medical drop-down.
- Click Add beside Medical Expenses.
- Enter your medical insurance premiums paid (if applicable), then click Continue.
- Enter the Qualified long-term care premiums and select the age of the person in the drop-list.
Classic
- From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- Click the Itemized or Standard Deductions drop-down, then click Medical and dental expenses.
- Enter your medical insurance premiums paid (if applicable), then click Continue.
- Enter the Qualified long-term care premiums and select the age of person in the drop-list.
- Complete the rest of the interview process.
Desktop
- From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
- Click the Itemized or Standard Deductions drop-down, then click Medical and dental expenses.
- Enter your medical insurance premiums paid (if applicable), then click Continue.
- Enter the Qualified long-term care premiums and select the age of person in the drop-list.
- Complete the rest of the interview process.
To enter long-term care insurance distributions, follow the steps below.
Online
Dashboard
- From within your TaxAct return, click Income.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- Click the Explore More drop-down.
- Click Add beside Long-Term Care Insurance Distributions.
- Complete the rest of the interview process.
Classic
- From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- Click the Other Adjustments drop-down, then click Archer MSAs and Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts.
- Click Long-term Care Contracts and continue with the interview process to enter your information.
Desktop
- From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
- Click the Other Adjustments drop-down, then click Archer MSAs and Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts.
- Click Long-term Care Contracts and continue with the interview process to enter your information.
Note: If “No” is selected on the screen titled Long Term Care – Death Benefits, you will be provided with the screens to complete the rest of page two of Form 8853 Archer MSAs and Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts. Usually these payments are reported to you on IRS Form 1099-LTC Long-Term Care and Accelerated Death Benefits.
