Form 1098 – More Than One Borrower
To enter the information in your TaxAct return when another individual (other than your spouse if filing a joint return) received a Form 1098, Mortgage Interest Statement, for interest you also were liable for, follow the steps below.
Online
Dashboard
- From within your TaxAct return, click Deductions & Credits.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- Click the Your Home drop-down.
- Click Add beside Mortgage Interest & Refinancing.
- Continue with the interview process until you reach the screen Your Form 1098 mortgage interest summary, click Continue.
- Proceed until you get to the screen Additional mortgage interest information, click Yes.
- Continue until you get to the screen More than one person paid interest. Enter the other borrowers’ information, then click Continue.
Classic
- From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- Click the Itemized or Standard Deductions drop-down, then click Interest expenses.
- Continue with the interview process until you reach the screen Your Form 1098 mortgage interest summary, click Continue.
- Proceed until you get to the screen Additional mortgage interest information, click Yes.
- Continue until you get to the screen More than one person paid interest. Enter the other borrowers’ information, then click Continue.
Desktop
- From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
- Click the Itemized or Standard Deductions drop-down, then click Interest expenses.
- Continue with the interview process until you reach the screen Your Form 1098 mortgage interest summary, click Continue.
- Proceed until you get to the screen Additional mortgage interest information, click Yes.
- Continue until you get to the screen More than one person paid interest. Enter the other borrowers’ information, then click Continue.
