Professional Editions: Integrated E-Signatures – Quick Start Guide

Integrated E-Signatures, Powered by Drake Software, is fully integrated with TaxAct Pro. This makes it easier to get the signatures you need to e-file.

You must have a Client Portals subscription to purchase and use Integrated E-Signatures. See Professional Editions: Client Portals – Overview for more information about Client Portals. Once you have a Client Portals subscription, you will be able to purchase E-Signature Events. For more information about event types, see Professional Editions: Integrated E-Signatures – E-Signature Events.

Requesting E-Signatures

You will begin the E-Signature request process within TaxAct Pro and your customers (taxpayers) will use Client Portals to complete their KBA and apply their E-Signatures.

More detailed information will be provided when TaxAct Pro 2026 is available.

Usually yes. When you send a document, the taxpayer receives an email notification; if they don’t already have a portal login, the email includes a link to set up their account along with signing instructions. After they log in, a signing task appears on their portal home page and an indicator shows on the Files menu.

If the signer does not have a portal, you can instead use Guest Exchange to send the request — they receive an email link and sign after entering a PIN you provide separately (the PIN is not included in the email).

The taxpayer will receive an email letting them know documents are ready to review and sign, with a link to the portal (and, if needed, to set up their account). Inside the portal, a task appears on the home page and an indicator is shown on the Files menu.

No. There is no fee charged to the taxpayer to e-sign. All fees are paid by the TaxAct Professional firm — your firm is charged one E-Signature Event per set of signature documents, and events are non-refundable.

Yes. On the Signatures tab for the client, each signature document has an Actions menu where you can Resend Notification (send the signer another email), Download, or Delete the request. If a document shows a “Not sent” status, re-upload and re-send it to the taxpayer’s portal.
