How can we help?

Firewall Conflicts

If you are receiving “prohibited access” or “page not available” errors in your web browser when trying to access TaxAct on the internet, you may not be able to access some features on our website due to Windows or a third-party firewall products.  If you receive similar connection based messages while using online features with the desktop software such as E-filing or help topics then a firewall could also be blocking that connection.

Many anti-virus security software’s suites will come bundled with a firewall that you may need to configure.  With newer versions of Windows you may have Windows Defender on by default.

Additionally, if you are on a work computer or work network then your employer may apply a firewall that provides selective access to the internet.  Your access to change these settings will likely be limited and you can try contacting your work’s IT department to verify or you may need to try another device or network.

Please consult Microsoft or Windows help for Windows Firewall settings.

If using a third-party firewall, please consult that software/hardware company’s support.
