Individual – Form 1040 – Other Income
To enter a description and an amount for “Other Income” that needs to be reported on Form 1040, follow the steps below. Other Income refers to any income that is not reported elsewhere on another form or schedule.
In 2024, the amount flows to Schedule 1, line 8z with “Worksheet attached” on the description line. The worksheet “Other Income – Support Details for Schedule 1 (Form 1040), Line 8)” is printed with your return and includes both the description and amount entered. The amount is included on Form 1040 or Form 1040-SR, line 8.

Dashboard
- From within your TaxAct return, click Income.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- Expand the Explore More topic.
- Click Add beside Other Income.
- Continue until you see the Other Income screen. Scroll down and use the section Other Income to enter a Description and amount.
- Click Continue and complete the rest of the interview process.
Classic
- From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- Click the Other Income drop-down, then click Prizes, awards or other miscellaneous income.
- On the screen titled Miscellaneous – Amounts Received, use the data entry fields to enter the Description and amount.
- Click Continue and complete the rest of the interview process.
