TaxACT Preparer’s Installation

You are only a few easy steps away from completing the installation of TaxACT. Here is a step-by-step walk through the installation process:

1. After starting the installation, confirm that all other programs are closed and click Next.

   

2. Read and then accept the License Agreement by placing a check-mark in the indicated box. Then click Next.

   

3. Next, a few decisions need to be made. (Changing the BLUE items below is optional) 
   • It is recommended that you use the default Destination Location for the TaxACT program. You can however change the installation location of the program. You may click on the Browse… button to change where TaxACT will be installed.
   • TaxACT will automatically place a shortcut icon on your Windows desktop after installation is complete. If you do not want the shortcut created, you can remove the check-mark from the box.

   You can then click Next.

   

4. Confirm your choices and then click Next to continue the installation.

   

5. The next screen is the TaxACT Read-Me file. You can review this if you wish and then click Next.

   

6. The “Auto-check for updates” feature will check automatically for any updates to the TaxACT program. Remove the check-mark from the box if you wish to disable this feature (not recommended).

   

7. The last screen is simply the confirmation that the installation has been completed. Click Finish.

   

8. You can then run the TaxACT program by double-clicking on the shortcut on your desktop or from within your Windows “Start” menu.
