Security Question Answer Tips
The security question is designed as a fall-back when the password to an account is forgotten. The questions available to choose from are generally those that only the person who created the account would easily know the answer to, but, that others would find hard to guess.
When verifying an account, security question answers must be provided and spelled exactly the same way as they were originally entered when creating a TaxAct account. If you are experiencing difficulty verifying your security answers, please consider the following combinations of scenarios when providing us your answer(s):
- Did you use any abbreviations?
- Did you use a first name, a last name, or both?
- Did you enter City only, State only, or both?
- Did you use a nickname?
It is required that your security question answers be provided exactly as you would enter it into our system when accessing your account. Providing additional information other than the answer you originally supplied will result in an incorrect answer.
Please understand, our Representatives must manually type each security answer when verifying, thus, they do not have the ability to provide any hints nor suggestions to the answers you had established. To ensure access and maintain your security, we highly encourage account-holders write down and save account log-in credentials in a safe place.
