Economic Impact (Stimulus) Payments
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the IRS issued three (3) Economic Impact Payments (EIPs) for eligible people, also known as Stimulus payments. Those payments were dispersed as follows:
- EIP1: $1,200 for Individuals or $2,400 if Married Filing Jointly, plus $500 for each qualifying child, issued in or around April 2020
- EIP2: $600 for Individuals or $1,200 if Married Filing Jointly, plus $600 for each qualifying child, issued in or around December 2020 / January 2021
- EIP3 (as part of the American Rescue Plan Act): $1,400 for Individuals or $2,800 if Married Filing Jointly, plus $1,400 for each dependent, issued in or around March 2021
Please note that while only two Stimulus payments were issued in 2021, EIP3 is widely referred to as the Third (3rd) Stimulus payment, and should not be confused with taxpayers receiving three payments in tax year 2021.
