Professional Edition – How to View/Save a TaxAct Return as a PDF

Ensure Adobe Acrobat Reader is Installed. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view, print, or save the tax return. You can view the saved return at any time by opening it in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

To generate and save the return as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file, follow these steps:

TaxAct Online

  1. From within the TaxAct return, click the Print Center dropdown, then click Return (on smaller devices, click in the top left corner of your screen, then click Print Center).
  2. Specify the number of copies to print
    • In the Federal Copies field, enter the number of copies you need.
    • In the State Copies field, enter the number of state return copies.
  3. Click Print, then click the [Name]_20XX_Tax_Return.pdf PDF link.
  4. The PDF will open in a new window, then click the download icon to save the file.

If you see a message indicating fees have not been paid, click the View/Pay your return fees link. Continue through the screens until you’ve processed the payment for product fees and then repeat the steps to print.

Desktop

  1. From within the TaxAct return, click File in the upper menu bar, then click Print Client Return.
  2. Specify the number of copies to print
    1. In the Preparer field, enter the number of copies you need for Federal or State.
    2. In the Client field, enter the number of copies you need for Federal or State.
  3. Click Print, then click the circle next to Send Output to PDF (Portable Document Format).
  4. Click Browse, navigate to the folder you want, then click Select Folder, then click Ok.
