Form 1099-MISC – Entering in Program
To enter Form 1099-MISC, follow the steps below.
Online
Dashboard
- From within your TaxAct return, click Income.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- If the 1099-MISC is related to your business or rental, click the Business & Self Employed drop-down and click Add beside the applicable form to which the 1099-MISC applies:
- Self-Employment/Gig Work (Schedule C)
- Rental Properties & Royalties (Schedule E)
- Farm Income (Schedule F)
- If you do not have a business or rental that is related to your 1099-MISC income, click the Explore More drop-down and choose Add beside Misc Income Not Related to a Business or Rental.
- Complete the rest of the interview process.
Classic
- From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
- On smaller devices, click the menu at the top left corner of your screen, then make your selection.
- Click Form 1099-MISC.
- Continue with the interview process to enter your information.
Desktop
- From within your TaxAct return, click Federal.
- Click Form 1099-MISC.
- Complete the rest of the interview process.
Notes
- For Classic or Desktop, if the form or schedule that you need to assign to Form 1099-MISC is not shown as an option, you will need to complete the form or schedule, then edit the Form 1099-MISC and choose the form or schedule now that it is shown as an option.
- If you click Form 1040/1040-NR, Other Income as the assigned schedule or form, the next screen will be titled Please confirm that the income on this Form 1099-MISC is non-business income, and you will need to click the checkbox to check it. If the income is business income, click Back, and choose a different assigned form or schedule.
