Individual – Downloading and Installing TaxAct

Once you receive your order confirmation, you can download and install your TaxAct Desktop program. 

NOTE You can also download and install previously purchased software at no additional charge by following the steps below.

To download TaxAct (Consumer), follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your TaxAct Account online.
  2. Click My Account > My Downloads.
  3. Click the 20YY to select a different download year, if needed.
  4. Click Download next to the name of the specific federal or state program you want to download.
    • Note: You’ll need to download the federal program before you download any state program.
  5. Once your download is complete, open the downloaded file.
  6. On the screen titled Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?, click Yes.
  7. Continue with the on-screen steps to complete the installation.

NOTE You can install TaxAct on one additional computer (example: home laptop and office computer) for the purpose of completing your income tax return. The TaxAct program will only work on one computer at a time, and you will only be able to file the returns that you have paid for.
